US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has arrived in Moscow today. He was received by Russian Investment Envoy Kirill Dmitriev, according to a source familiar with the matter
According to Reuters, the visit comes amid speculation about a possible meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which the Kremlin has not ruled out.
Witkoff’s trip marks a renewed US diplomatic effort to push for an end to the war in Ukraine. US President Donald Trump had confirmed earlier that Witkoff may visit Moscow this week and warned that Washington would impose new sanctions on Russia if a ceasefire was not reached by Friday.
While the Kremlin has yet to confirm any official meetings, a Washington-based source indicated that Witkoff is expected to hold high-level talks with Russian leadership during his stay.
