‘Visit Kuwait’ platform to unify tourism efforts and elevate national identity

Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi affirmed Kuwait’s growing interest in developing its tourism sector, emphasizing its significance in supporting the national economy and preserving the country’s cultural identity.
He noted that this interest has been translated into concrete initiatives by government bodies, the private sector, and civil society organizations, reflecting a collective effort to showcase Kuwait’s tourism potential and its diverse cultural and environmental offerings, reports Al-Rai daily.
He announced the launch of the “Visit Kuwait” platform, a national initiative aimed at unifying tourism-related messages and activities under one umbrella.
This digital platform seeks to create a seamless and integrated tourism experience that boosts tourist attraction and aligns with the objectives of Kuwait Vision 2035. Al-Mutairi described it as a strategic step in building a modern tourism infrastructure through active partnerships between the public and private sectors.
As part of Kuwait’s current presidency of the United Nations Tourism Organization’s Regional Committee for the Middle East, the minister revealed that preparations are underway to host the 52nd session of the committee in early 2026.
He stressed that this event will be a key opportunity for Kuwait to strengthen regional partnerships, share experiences, and contribute to shaping the future of tourism in the region.
Regarding Kuwait’s participation in Expo Osaka 2025, Al-Mutairi said the country will be represented through an integrated pavilion that reflects its national identity and future aspirations.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Information’s approach during Expo 2020—marked by governance, professional selection processes, and transparent contracting practices—will continue, ensuring the pavilion represents Kuwait at the highest standards.
The focus will be on showcasing achievements in sustainability, innovation, culture, education, and the economy.
Turning to cultural initiatives, the minister highlighted preparations for the upcoming Kuwait International Book Fair.
This year’s edition, under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, will feature participation from 33 countries—an unprecedented number in the fair’s history.
A key feature will be the launch of “I Am the Author,” a hands-on experience for children and young adults to write, design, and print their own books, aiming to spark creativity and interest in publishing among youth.
Lastly, Al-Mutairi discussed the closing ceremony of Kuwait’s designation as the Capital of Arab Media and Culture for 2025. Scheduled to coincide with national celebrations in February, the event will be a major national occasion that underscores Kuwait’s leadership in the Arab cultural and media spheres. He described the planned ceremony as an integrated cultural event that reflects the country’s identity and prominent regional role.
