
The Public Authority for Industry (PAI) has ordered the closure of 53 industrial, craft, and service establishment in the South Amghara Industrial Area, citing serious violations which were uncovered during a visit by the Industrial Inspection Department.
According to the official reports, the infractions included lack of fire licenses and insurance; violation of safety and environmental standards; electrical hazards and random storage practices and dumping rubble and storing materials outside boundaries, reports Al-Rai daily.
This is in addition to the encroachment on state property; deliberate plot closures during inspections and inactive or abandoned usage of plots.
Other serious breaches involved obstructing emergency exits, storage of flammable materials at unsafe heights, unauthorized subletting or dividing of plots, accumulation of scrap vehicles, and even the construction of entire buildings without proper authorization.
The Authority has given violators a one-month grace period to remove the infractions, warning that severe penalties will be imposed if the violations persist.
In other news, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel, who also chairs the PAI board, has issued a ministerial decision appointing Mishari Ali Al-Badr to the board under the “experienced” category, in accordance with Law No. 124 of 2023, amending the original Industry Law.
