Historic MOU Signed Between Hong Kong China Cricket & Kuwait Cricket at ICC Annual Conference in Singapore

In a landmark moment for Associate cricket development, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed between Hong Kong China Cricket and Kuwait Cricket during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Singapore. This historic alliance is set to deepen bilateral cricketing ties and promote collaboration across men’s, women’s, and youth cricket pathways.

The official signing ceremony was graced by leading officials from both boards, including Mr. Burji Shroff, Chairperson of Hong Kong China Cricket; Mr. Anuraag Bhatnagar, Director – Commercial & Marketing of Hong Kong China Cricket; Mr. Anoop Gidwani, Independent Director of Hong Kong China Cricket; Mr. Haider Farman, President of Kuwait Cricket; Mr. Emad Al Jassam, General Secretary of Kuwait Cricket; and Mr. Sajid Ashraf, Director General of Kuwait Cricket.

Mr. Haider Farman, President of Kuwait Cricket, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the partnership:

“This MoU represents more than just a bilateral agreement — it is a symbol of mutual respect and a shared vision to strengthen the game of cricket between two progressive Associate nations. We are excited about what the future holds, starting with our official participation in the prestigious Hong Kong Super Sixes later this year.”

Mr. Burji Shroff, Chairperson of Hong Kong China Cricket, shared his optimism:

“We believe in building bridges through cricket. This partnership with Kuwait Cricket is a step forward in ensuring that the Associate nations collaborate meaningfully — not only to grow the game on the field but to create sustainable development opportunities off it as well.”

Mr. Anuraag Bhatnagar, Director – Commercial & Marketing of Hong Kong China Cricket, added:

“The scope of this MoU opens up a wealth of opportunities — from hosting high-quality bilateral series to creating a commercial platform for greater fan engagement and global exposure. It’s a win-win for both boards.”

Mr. Sajid Ashraf, Director General of Kuwait Cricket, echoed the importance of youth and women’s development:

“Our focus through this partnership will not only be on senior men’s cricket but also on empowering the next generation through age-group exchanges and women’s cricket initiatives in particular. Undeniably, Kuwait’s inclusion in the elite Hong Kong Super 6’s tournament is the shining jewel in the crown of this strategic MoU, having said that, we aim to build a robust ecosystem for all genders and age groups through this partnership.”

As part of this strategic alliance, both boards announced plans to host regular bilateral series (men’s & women’s) in Kuwait and Hong Kong China. These matches will be played under the banner of the Bauhinia-Falcon Trophy, a name that pays tribute to the fierce and spirited rivalry shared between the two teams in recent years.

This MoU reflects a shared commitment to elevate Associate cricket through structured collaboration, competitive opportunities, and a joint vision of global cricketing progress.
