Minister Al-Ajeel reaffirms support for Flour Mills Company to bolster food security

Minister of Commerce and Industry, Khalifa Al-Ajeel, met on Thursday with Mutlaq Al-Zaid, CEO of the Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company, to explore ways to support the company and address any challenges that may hinder its performance. The goal is to strengthen the company’s contribution to national food security and promote locally produced goods.
The meeting, held at the Public Authority for Industry, underscored the government’s continued commitment to supporting strategic national industries, with the food sector identified as a core pillar of Kuwait’s food security framework, reports Al-Rai daily.
Minister Al-Ajeel stressed the need to mobilize available resources and simplify administrative and technical procedures to enable the company to continue playing its vital role in ensuring the supply of high-quality essential food commodities.
He emphasized that supporting national products goes beyond enhancing production—it also involves creating a supportive legislative and regulatory environment, encouraging innovation and development, and attracting investment in the food industry, all in line with the state’s vision for sustainable food security.
For his part, Al-Zaid expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s support and praised its efforts to assist national industries, especially amid ongoing regional and global challenges affecting supply chains and food availability.
He confirmed that the Flour Mills Company continues to upgrade its production lines, improve efficiency, and provide high-quality products tailored to the needs of the local market, contributing to the country’s goals of sustainable local production.
