Despite suffering severe damage to its nuclear facilities during the recent Iran-Israel war, which included U.S. airstrikes, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has declared that Tehran will not abandon its uranium enrichment program.
Speaking to Fox News, Araqchi emphasized that enrichment remains a symbol of scientific achievement and national pride, even though the program is currently halted due to the extent of the damage.
Araqchi noted that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran is still assessing the heavy damage inflicted by the U.S. and Israeli strikes. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to enrichment, rejecting any suggestion of surrendering the program.
Prior to the war, five rounds of nuclear talks were held between Iran and the U.S., mediated by Oman. However, no deal was reached on acceptable uranium enrichment levels.
While Washington and Tel Aviv accuse Iran of being close to weapons-grade enrichment, Tehran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful, civilian purposes only.
