Kuwait and India sign MoU to boost civil aviation cooperation

Kuwait and India have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of civil aviation, according to Sheikh Hamoud Al-Mubarak, President of Kuwait’s Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The agreement was finalized during a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday between Sheikh Hamoud and Samir Kumar, Undersecretary of India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The talks focused on strengthening air transport ties between the two countries, exchanging technical expertise, and addressing emerging needs in the aviation sector.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikh Hamoud stated that the meeting came as part of ongoing efforts to deepen coordination and strategic partnership in the civil aviation sector.

The newly-signed MoU includes provisions tailored to support and expand the air transport market for both nations, with a focus on meeting the expectations of travelers and aligning with the evolving dynamics of the aviation industry.

Discussions covered a broad range of topics, including recent developments in international air transport, best practices in aviation management, and mechanisms to improve services, safety standards, and regulatory frameworks.

The talks were attended by senior Kuwaiti officials and stakeholders in the aviation sector. Among them were Mishal Al-Shamali, Kuwait’s Ambassador to India; Captain Abdul Mohsen Al-Faqan, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Kuwait Airways; Marwan Boodai, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jazeera Airways; a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a technical team from Kuwait’s DGCA.

The presence of both public and private aviation officials underlines the importance of the partnership and the shared commitment to advancing air connectivity between Kuwait and India.

The agreement is expected to pave the way for greater collaboration in air services, increased flight frequencies, and more efficient regulatory coordination, ultimately benefiting travelers and airlines from both countries.
