Governors tasked with submitting quarterly reports to boost local governance

In a move aimed at strengthening local governance and public service delivery, the Council of Ministers has instructed governors to submit quarterly reports detailing their efforts and achievements.

The reports — part of a broader strategy to enhance communication with citizens, ensure their concerns are addressed, and track the implementation of directives issued by the political leadership — are to be presented to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Cabinet directed that the reports focus on the quarterly reports submitted by governors will focus on tracking public achievements, including updates on infrastructure, development projects, and improvements in healthcare, education, and social services, while evaluating the overall efficiency of service delivery. They will also assess coordination between government agencies through joint initiatives, document citizen engagement efforts such as meetings and responses to public concerns, highlight community programs aimed at enhancing quality of life, and identify key challenges along with proposed solutions to address them.

The sources emphasized the Cabinet’s commitment to reinforcing the role of governors and provincial councils in advancing local development. This includes promoting collaboration between service providers, aligning projects with the specific priorities of each governorate, and enhancing readiness to address crises—be they environmental, health-related, or security-based.

The initiative reflects a broader national vision to ensure greater transparency, responsiveness, and stability across all regions of Kuwait.
