Kuwait participates in Arab military training symposium preparatory meeting in Cairo

The preparatory session for the 29th Symposium of Representatives of Training Authorities in Arab Armed Forces kicked off yesterday at the Arab League’s General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo. The meeting is chaired by Tunisia and includes the participation of the State of Kuwait.

In his opening address, Ambassador Khalil Al-Thawadi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Arab Affairs and National Security Sector at the Arab League, praised the ongoing efforts to organize these important gatherings. He emphasized that such symposiums significantly benefit the personnel of Arab armed forces by strengthening coordination and cooperation across the region, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Thawadi commended the theme of this year’s symposium, which centers on the role of self-learning in enhancing the future capabilities of armed forces. He noted the increasing relevance of this topic in light of rapid technological advancements and the evolving complexity of modern security environments.

He highlighted that self-education has become a core component of military preparedness. By relying on diverse sources — ranging from traditional books to digital e-learning platforms—military personnel can independently acquire essential skills and knowledge, contributing to the development of adaptable and forward-thinking forces.

“Self-learning is no longer optional; it is a strategic imperative for modern militaries,” Al-Thawadi said. “The complexity of future combat environments demands institutional frameworks that promote innovation and continuous learning. This enables armed forces to become more agile, efficient, and equipped to confront emerging challenges.”

The State of Kuwait is participating in the meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Defense, led by Colonel Mohammed Al-Asousi, Head of the Courses Branch at the Military Education Authority. The delegation also includes Major Turki Al-Matraqa and Captain Abdulrahman Al-Jafnawi.
