Kuwaiti physicians are the backbone of nation’s health sector: Dr. Al-Awadhi

Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, said Saturday the Kuwaiti doctors are just as competent as their peers in the world’s leading healthcare systems.
He called them a vital foundation for building the country’s future and a protective force for the healthcare system during both times of stability and crisis.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the Kuwait University College of Medicine’s Class of 2025, Dr. Al-Awadhi said, “Today we celebrate the beginning of new journeys — of individuals who have chosen to devote their lives to humanity, embracing knowledge as their mission and compassion as their method.”
He commended the graduates as a source of pride for their families and a great asset to their country, describing them as the seeds of a future built on a profound sense of duty. “Medicine is not merely a profession,” he said, “it is a way of life — measured by its healing touch, the comfort it brings to patients, and the hope it restores in their eyes.”
Dr. Al-Awadhi emphasized that serving the nation through one’s area of expertise is among the highest forms of contribution. He called on the new doctors to become symbols of mercy, ambassadors of hope, and catalysts for change.
He urged them to maintain humility, remain open to learning, and work in a spirit of cooperation, noting that the success of any healthcare system depends on effective teamwork.
He also praised the increasing state-level attention and support being given to medical professionals, which he said reflects the government’s belief that investing in national talent is the most reliable path to sustainable development.
Dr. Al-Awadhi concluded by highlighting the leadership’s commitment to empowering healthcare professionals, developing national capabilities, and creating an environment that fosters both scientific excellence and professional growth.
