PM chairs Kuwait-China committee meeting to fast-track joint projects

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah chaired the 16th meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Wednesday at Bayan Palace to review the progress of development projects stemming from agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the governments of the State of Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China.

The meeting focused on the latest updates related to key joint projects, including collaboration on the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, the electrical power system and renewable energy development, a low-carbon green waste recycling system, housing development, environmental infrastructure for wastewater treatment, and economic and free zone projects, reports Al-Rai daily.

His Highness directed the committee to closely monitor the implementation process, identify any delays, and expedite the required procedures in coordination with the concerned ministries and Chinese counterparts.

Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and committee rapporteur, Ambassador H.E. Samih Jawhar Hayat, emphasized that the meeting is part of a series of ongoing sessions aimed at ensuring steady progress on bilateral development initiatives. He reiterated the commitment to taking all necessary.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of Public Works; Abdullatif Al-Mishari, Minister of State for Municipal and Housing Affairs; Noura Al-Fassam, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment; Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy; Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority; Counselor Salah Al-Majed, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department and Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Committee Rapporteur.

The committee reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing Kuwait-China cooperation as part of the country’s broader development strategy.
