Over 80 pc of Ministry of Social Affairs services go digital

Dr. Sayed Issa Mahmoud, Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Administrative Development at the Ministry of Social Affairs, said more than 80% of the Ministry’s sectors and affiliated entities under Minister Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah — such as the Public Authority for Disabilities Affairs and the Supreme Council for Family Affairs — have completed their digital transformation.
Among the latest developments, a “Priority” card for elderly citizens aged 65 and above will soon be issued automatically through the “My Identity” app, removing the need to apply in person or visit ministry branches.
Additionally, a mobile home care service for the elderly will be launched soon via the Sahel app, allowing seniors to book appointments and receive visit confirmations automatically, report Al-Jarida daily.
Dr. Issa emphasized that these initiatives align with the Planning Sector’s strategic goals to automate Ministry services and accelerate digital transformation, reinforcing Kuwait’s ambition to become a regional hub for artificial intelligence, as part of Kuwait Vision 2035.
He also affirmed that aid recipients are not being overlooked. Their procedures are now automated—notifications are sent for any updates or deficiencies related to aid applications, ensuring efficient communication and processing.
As for the Disability Authority, it will benefit from a partnership with Microsoft, focusing on AI tools such as Co-Pilot and broader digital transformation. A dedicated program is underway to enable people with disabilities to access electronic portals and government services, with a visual prototype already presented. The ministry is now working with the Central Agency for Information Technology to define the program’s scope and estimate its cost ahead of implementation.
