Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said today, that the Islamic Republic has no intention to develop nuclear weapons, reiterating Iran’s longstanding position on the issue.
He emphasized Iran’s legitimate right to pursue nuclear energy and scientific research, stating, “We will not allow anyone to deprive us of this right.”
President Pezeshkian, according to Al-Rai daily, also stressed that Iran does not seek war and has not initiated any conflict, underscoring the country’s commitment to regional stability and peaceful engagement.
His remarks come amid heightened regional tensions. Earlier today, Iran confirmed the deaths of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ intelligence chief and his deputy in an Israeli airstrike.
In a related development, the U.S. Embassy in Israel announced that its consular sections in both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv would remain closed on Monday, citing heightened security concerns and the announcement by the U.S. Ambassador to Israel Monday that an Iranian missile strike caused minor damage near a branch of the American embassy in Tel Aviv, but no U.S. personnel were injured in the incident.
The closure comes amid mounting regional tensions following an Israeli airstrike that killed the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ intelligence chief and his deputy, as confirmed by Iranian authorities earlier today.
In response to the escalating situation, the Israeli military has advised residents in several areas to remain near bomb shelters.
