Hajj season moves away from summer for the next 25 years

A Saudi weather official said that this year’s Hajj will be the last to take place during summer for a long time.

Hussein Al-Qahtani, spokesperson for Saudi Arabia’s National Center of Meteorology, explained that because Hajj follows the lunar calendar, its timing changes each year, reports Al-Jarida daily.

As a result, the next 8 Hajj seasons will be in spring, then 8 in winter, followed by autumn seasons. After that, Hajj will return to the summer season — but not for another 25 years.

This means that in the coming years, pilgrims can expect to perform the Hajj rituals in cooler and more comfortable weather, making the journey easier for many.
