Gulf Air Flight GF213 bomb threat passenger detained, being interrogated

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has confirmed that flight GF213 from Bahrain to Kuwait encountered a passenger disturbance on June 8, 2025, prompting the activation of several security and precautionary measures in line with established regulations, according to the Bahrain News Agency.

The airline stated that the situation was managed in full coordination with the relevant Kuwaiti authorities. Upon arrival at Kuwait International Airport, the passenger involved was detained by airport police, and all passengers disembarked safely and without incident.

Gulf Air expressed its regret for any inconvenience caused, reaffirming that the safety of its passengers and crew is its top priority. The airline also extended its appreciation to the Kuwaiti authorities for their swift and professional response in handling the matter, which ensured adherence to the highest safety and security standards.

Meanwhile, the Al-Rai daily, quoting Kuwait security sources said the individual responsible for a false bomb threat made during the flight is being interrogated. It was later confirmed that the threat was baseless.

Preliminary reports suggest that the suspect was in an abnormal state at the time of the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation and will take appropriate action in accordance with security protocols.

Despite the incident, sources confirmed that all inbound and outgoing flights at Kuwait International Airport were not affected by the incident.
