Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi said Platform 51 reflects key pillars of the ministry’s strategy — developing infrastructure, investing in national talent, enhancing purposeful content, and fostering partnerships.
Speaking at the celebration organized by Ooredoo (owner of Fast Telecom, Platform 51’s operator), Al-Mutairi said the Ministry’s 2021–2026 strategy envisioned a digital transformation led by Kuwaiti competencies. The aim was to empower national talent to lead this change, recognizing digital media as the primary source of information and entertainment for Arab youth, reports Al-Rai daily.
He described Platform 51 as a sustainable media model blending Kuwaiti heritage with innovation, delivering content aligned with national values and identity. It offers Kuwait TV, radio services, archival content, and live broadcasts, reviewed under strict standards.
Al-Mutairi highlighted initiatives like drama production guidelines and youth training programs, emphasizing that sustainable media begins with national talent development.
The Minister also praised the successful partnership with Fast Telecom as a cultural bridge between sectors, showcasing Kuwait’s artistic and media legacy. He emphasized the platform’s achievements, including rapid user growth and its regional and global recognition.
Al-Mutairi announced the Sheraa Media Award to promote creative excellence. He also noted progress in digital archiving — 200,000 hours of television content have been preserved, with radio archiving underway.
He reiterated the Ministry’s pledge to build a more impactful media ecosystem aligned with Kuwait’s identity and leadership aspirations, thanking all partners and staff for their efforts.
Ooredoo Kuwait CEO Abdulaziz Al-Babtain emphasized that the launch of Platform 51 reflects the company’s broader role in enabling digital transformation, innovation, and supporting Kuwait’s Vision 2035.
Al-Babtain stated the platform serves not only as an archive but also as a living, accessible digital experience for generations to come, powered by strong infrastructure and national spirit.
