Reckless driving, resistance, and drugs: Jahra police nab suspects in movie-like arrest

Suspects in drug-related incidents face tough penalties under new traffic laws

The Jahra backup patrol officers have arrested two bedoun men after they fiercely resisted arrest in the Saad Al-Abdullah area who were in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

A security source said patrol officers grew suspicious when the man behind the wheel was ordered to pull over. The man instead sped off driving recklessly, prompting the patrol to request backup.

In a movie type scenario, the vehicle was eventually stopped after officers blocked the road. Upon exiting the vehicle, the two men resisted arrest but were subdued. Both were found to be in an abnormal state, and a search of the vehicle revealed drugs and related items. They were referred to the General Department for Drug Control.

In a separate incident in the Farwaniya area, a routine patrol led to the arrest of a young man found with a bag of shabu (methamphetamine).

According to a security source, officers noticed the suspect’s car swerving suspiciously. When stopped, the driver appeared to be in abnormal condition, and a search revealed the illegal substance. He was charged with driving under the influence of narcotics and was subsequently referred to the General Department for Drug Control.

These incidents come amid strict enforcement of Kuwait’s new traffic law, which imposes heavy penalties on those driving under the influence.

The authorities reaffirm their commitment to zero tolerance for drug-impaired driving and emphasize continued crackdowns to ensure public safety.
