Kuwait’s pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 -- a symbol of cultural and economic cooperation

The Japanese Ambassador to Kuwait, Kenichiro Mukai, said Kuwaiti businessmen and entrepreneurs have numerous investment opportunities in Japan, supported by incentives offered to foreign entrepreneurs.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) ahead of a business dinner which was held under the slogan “Japanese-Kuwaiti Business Diwaniya” at his residence, Mukai highlighted the importance of strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Mukai explained that several Japanese prefectures, including Fukuoka, grant two-year visas to foreign entrepreneurs, allowing them to establish businesses in Japan. He emphasized that Kuwaitis should explore Japan’s growing investment landscape, particularly in sectors beyond oil.

The Ambassador pointed to Kuwait’s pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 as a symbol of cultural and economic cooperation. He said visitors were impressed by Kuwaiti contributions in the fields of arts, education, innovation, and enjoyed traditional Kuwaiti cuisine, reflecting strong potential for non-oil investment collaborations.

During the dinner, Mukai described the Japan-Kuwait Business Diwaniya as an exceptional platform for exchanging ideas and enhancing bilateral trade. He noted plans to revive the Japanese-Kuwaiti Businessmen Committee and praised past partnerships that introduced Japanese brands to Kuwait.

Mukai stressed that Japan remains an attractive market with capital investments exceeding $700 billion in 2023. He applauded Japanese companies like Mitsubishi, Toshiba, and Jera for their ongoing role in Kuwaiti infrastructure projects.

He also encouraged Kuwaiti business leaders to form strategic partnerships, assuring that the Japanese Embassy is ready to assist in introducing advanced technologies and premium Japanese products to Kuwait.

Speaking at the event, Mubarak Al Sayer, CEO of Al Sayer Group, praised the strong economic ties between Kuwait and Japan. He urged for deeper cooperation across trade, education, healthcare, industry, energy, and artificial intelligence.

Al Sayer also called for easier visa procedures for Kuwaiti citizens, suggesting that visa-on-arrival would boost trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
He highlighted the shared environmental and urban development challenges faced by both countries, proposing joint technological initiatives to achieve a sustainable future.
