Ambassadors discuss importance of strengthening economic, trade cooperation between Türkiye and GCC states

The Council of Ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries held its first meeting in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on Tuesday.

Kuwait’s Ambassador to Turkey HE Abdulaziz Al-Adwani told KUNA that the meeting comes in accordance with the decision issued by the 119th session of the GCC Ministerial Council held on June 14, 2011, and the 45th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council held in Kuwait on December 1, 2024.

He pointed out that the resolution recommended that the ambassadors of the GCC countries hold regular meetings to follow up on and implement the decisions and directives issued by the Supreme Council and the Ministerial Council.

He pointed out that the ambassadors emphasized during the meeting the importance of unifying efforts to serve the interests of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in strengthening their relations with Turkey and elevating them to broader horizons, in line with the aspirations of the Supreme Council.

Al-Adwani added that the importance of ongoing consultations between GCC ambassadors and senior officials at the Turkish Foreign Ministry on regional issues was also emphasized.

He said the ambassadors discussed the importance of strengthening economic and trade cooperation between Türkiye and the GCC countries, calling for increased mutual investment and the creation of opportunities for cooperation, particularly in infrastructure and transportation projects, through building strategic partnerships in this field.

The ambassadors also indicated that officials in various Turkish agencies view the visits of Gulf delegations with great interest, given their positive impact on increasing cooperation in various fields.

He pointed out that the ambassadors praised the fruitful results achieved by the meetings held by the GCC ambassadors with the Turkish Ministers of Interior and Tourism over the past year, particularly with regard to the issue of issuing residency permits to GCC citizens, which contributed to reducing the obstacles facing Gulf citizens visiting Turkey.

Al-Adwani explained during the meeting the GCC envoys reiterated the importance of strengthening relations through the continuation of the strategic dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council and Turkey, pointing to the sixth joint ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council and Turkey, held on June 9, 2024, in the Qatari capital, Doha.
