Kaaba’s Kiswa raised in preparation for Hajj Season 1446 AH

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque announced on Tuesday the commencement of work to raise the Kiswa (the cloth covering) of the Kaaba, marking preparations for the upcoming Hajj season 1446 AH.

In a series of posts on its official X account, the Presidency confirmed that the operation is being carried out by a team of 42 specialized technicians, reports Al-Rai daily.
The process began with lifting the Kiswa to a height of three meters. A white cotton cloth, measuring 2.5 meters in width and 54 meters in length, was then placed to cover the exposed section.

The procedure involves several stages, including detaching the lower part of the Kiswa, separating the corners, raising the cloth, securing it at the designated height, affixing the white cover, and repositioning the lanterns.

This annual ritual reflects the care and attention given by the Saudi leadership to the Two Holy Mosques and is a key tradition carried out ahead of each Hajj season.
