Northwest Sulaibikhat Cooperative rocked by dismissals over violations

Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, dismissed eight board members of the society, following evidence of serious financial and administrative violations.

The Ministry of Social Affairs appointed eight ministry employees to the board of directors to manage the affairs of the Northwest Sulaibikhat Cooperative Society for one year or until new board elections are held, whichever comes first.

Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, has issued a ministerial decision to dismiss eight board members of the Northwest Sulaibikhat Cooperative Society, following evidence of serious financial and administrative violations uncovered by a recently formed review committee, reported Arabic daily Al Jarida.

According to sources at the Ministry of Social Affairs, the decision includes appointing eight ministry employees to the board of directors to manage the cooperative’s affairs for one year or until new board elections are held, whichever comes first. The dismissed members are required to hand over all funds, documents, and records in their possession to the newly appointed board within one week of the dissolution decision.

Sources noted that the most serious violations prompting the dismissal included a financial shortfall, an accumulation of stagnant goods due to poor purchasing practices, and mismanagement that led to increased expenses and purchases alongside declining sales and revenues—weakening the association’s financial standing.

The sources added that legal action will be taken against board members of other cooperatives involved in suspected financial and administrative violations. They emphasized that minister Al-Huwailah and Undersecretary Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi remain committed to taking all necessary legal steps to safeguard the cooperative sector.
