This groundbreaking presentation captivated attendees while reaffirming Lexus’s commitment to excellence, performance, and sustainability.

Since its founding in 1989, Lexus has consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation, introducing cutting-edge technologies that enhance the driving experience and redefine luxury and performance.

Moreover, since its debut in 1996, the LX has become a flagship SUV in over 50 countries worldwide. With the launch of the LX 700h, Lexus introduces a parallel hybrid system to the LX lineup for the first time, significantly reducing annual CO2 emissions while maintaining the series’ renowned durability and versatility.

Takami Yokoo, Lexus International Chief Engineer leading the development of the new LX 700h, stated that in 2021, the LX underwent a full model change with the concept of effortless and refined driving on any road, earning widespread appreciation from customers worldwide.

However, it remained the only model in the Lexus lineup without an electrified option—despite their commitment to carbon neutrality. Throughout development, they remained steadfast in ensuring that electrification would not compromise the LX’s signature reliability, durability, and off-road performance.

Yokoo further emphasized that their goal was to guarantee safe and reliable operation, ensuring that customers can always return home safely while maintaining the authentic Lexus driving experience. As a unified development team, they achieved this by creating a new parallel hybrid system and enhancing the GA-F platform. Yokoo extended invitation to experience the new LX, a vehicle meticulously crafted with passion and dedication, as they embark on the next chapter of electrification with HEV models.

The new hybrid powertrain combines a motor generator (MG) with a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, ensuring smooth transitions between engine and motor operation. Retaining essential features like full-time 4WD, a Lo-range transfer case, and torque converter functionality, this setup delivers a responsive and engaging driving experience that stays true to the Lexus Driving Signature.

Several structural enhancements ensure that the LX’s performance and durability remain uncompromised. A specially designed cross member supports the hybrid powertrain’s added weight while maintaining a low profile and ground clearance. The rear engine mount material has been upgraded for enhanced durability, while a redesigned spare tire cross optimizes battery placement without affecting the departure angle.

The LX 700h delivers robust, linear acceleration by combining motor torque with its twin-turbo engine. Off-road performance is further enhanced with motor-driven power introduced to the Lo-range for the first time in a Lexus, enabling precise throttle control in challenging terrains. The Multi-Terrain Select system further enhances handling and stability across diverse driving conditions.

Lexus continues to refine its Driving Signature by enhancing core fundamentals to achieve a seamless balance between on-road agility and off-road capability. Rigidity improvements, such as radiator support modifications and patch-shaped reinforcements, enhance steering responsiveness without compromising wheel articulation. Strengthened instrument panel reinforcements and optimized bracket thickness further improve handling stability and steering feel, while newly designed cab mount cushions minimize low-frequency vibrations, ensuring a more refined and comfortable ride.

The hybrid model introduces new functions and equipment that enhance the driving experience across both hybrid and engine variants. The LX is equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD meter, offering clear displays of essential driving information, including auxiliary battery voltage and engine oil pressure. Drivers can personalize the display to include features such as a boost meter or hybrid battery charge status in hybrid models, ensuring a more intuitive and informative driving experience.

Emphasizing Lexus’ dedication to a carbon-neutral society and the harmony between people, nature, and mobility, the LX lineup debuts the OVERTRAIL series. Designed for adventure enthusiasts, this series offers bold aesthetics and exceptional off-road performance. As part of the LEXUS OVERTRAIL PROJECT, it features exclusive equipment and distinctive designs tailored for exploration and rugged terrain.

The OVERTRAIL edition boasts a bold, rugged design with a black gloss spindle grille, matte gray aluminum wheels, and dark-tone accents on fog lamps, roof rails, and door handles. Its exclusive “Moon Desert” body color, featuring metallic shading, enhances its premium aesthetic within a six-color palette.

Inside, a monolith-themed interior combines low-saturation upholstery with ash burl black ornamentation, merging Lexus’ signature refinement with off-road capability.

Front and rear differential locks, in addition to the standard center lock, enhance performance on challenging terrain. The model also features exclusive 265/70R18 all-terrain tires, engineered specifically for Lexus body-on-frame vehicles to optimize both off-road capability and on-road comfort.

Safety remains a top priority in the LX’s design, with the latest Lexus Safety System+ integrating advanced features for enhanced protection. Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) anticipates potential hazards, such as pedestrian crossings and unexpected obstacles, providing timely braking or steering support.

Pre-Collision Safety (PCS) detects possible collisions and issues warnings or automated braking. The Driver Abnormality Response System monitors driver behavior, activating safety measures like hazard lights, gradual deceleration, and emergency service connection when necessary.

Lexus Teammate enhances convenience with Advanced Drive (Traffic Jam Assist) to ease congestion stress and Advanced Park for precision-guided parking assistance. These innovations reflect Lexus’ unwavering commitment to safety and a seamless driving experience.

Lexus also introduces an advanced Rear Air Conditioning Automatic Activation Control, optimizing cooling efficiency in high-temperature environments. This system automatically adjusts rear air conditioning and boosts airflow when battery temperatures rise, supplementing battery cooling with conditioned air. This innovation helps maintain optimal performance and longevity, ensuring reliable operation even in extreme climates.
