Jaber Hospital performs first aortic valve replacements with ‘Navitor’
This innovative valve reduces leakage risk, speeds recovery, and minimizes complications, positioning Kuwait among the leaders in advanced heart treatment technologies.
In a groundbreaking medical milestone, the interventional and structural cardiac catheterization team at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital successfully performed the first two aortic valve replacements using the cutting-edge “Navitor” valve. This makes the hospital the first in Kuwait to employ this advanced technology in treating heart patients, as reported by Al Anba newspaper.
This valve is one of the latest innovations in transcatheteraortic valve replacement procedures, characterized by an advanced design that reduces the risk of leakage around the valve. It offers patients faster recovery opportunities while minimizing complications, positioning Kuwait among the countries that provide the latest therapeutic technologies for heart patients.
In this context, Dr. Ali, Director of the Heart Valve Replacement Program with the Catheterization Program at Jaber Hospital, said, “It is crucial for any structural cardiac catheterization program to provide the right valve for the patient, which requires high scientific expertise.”
He added, “What we have achieved at Jaber Hospital is an excellent step in advancing the results of catheter-based aortic valve replacement operations in Kuwait, and we will continue working hard to enhance this medical progress to better serve our patients.”
For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Turki, Senior Interventional and Structural Cardiac Catheterist, said, “This technology represents a paradigm shift in the treatment of interventional heart disease. We at JaberHospital are extremely proud of the successful introduction of this modern valve in Kuwait. We always strive to provide the latest and best technologies in cardiac catheterization to ensure outstanding healthcare quality for our patients.”
He concluded, “This medical achievement is a significant step towards strengthening interventional catheterization programs in Kuwait.”
