KIPIC resumes operation of Al-Zour Refinery
The Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) announced the restart of most of the Al-Zour Refinery units, after the sudden stop it was subjected to following a gas outage incident in the second week of last November.
The company’s spokesman, Abdullah Fahad Al-Ajmi, said that some manufacturing units were not put into service due to operational reasons, announcing that KIPIC had begun periodic maintenance operations on some units of the Al-Zour refinery for the first time since operation in November of last year, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The scope of periodic maintenance work includes the primary atmospheric waste desulfurization unit (second track), the second unit (first track), the first hydrogen production unit and the gases desulfurization unit.
It should be noted that KIPIC announced at the beginning of this December the successful and safe completion of the operation of some units of the third and final refinery in the Al-Zour Petroleum Complex, thus achieving a historic achievement added to its record of successes. It has achieved one of the most important goals of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its companies’ 2040 strategy.
Al-Zour Refinery is the largest oil refinery in Kuwait, and the seventh largest in the world. Its restart after the sudden stop is of great economic importance to Kuwait and the global energy market, as it contributes to increasing the refining of crude oil and raising the production of petroleum products, supports the Kuwaiti economy and creates new job opportunities.
The restart of the Al-Zour refinery also contributes to the stability of the global energy market, as it meets the demand for high-quality petroleum products in a stable and safe manner.
