Al-Mishaan visits Saudi Center for Road Research
Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan, Minister of Public Works, visited the Saudi Center for Road Research and Accelerated Pavement Testing (SARAPTECH).

Al-Mishaan emphasized the importance of research to improve road quality as a cost and time saving measure.
The Saudi Roads Authority said on Tuesday, that Al-Mishaan visited the center during her participation in the ‘Road Safety and Sustainability Conference’, which was organized by the authority with the participation of more than 1,500 experts and specialists from more than 50 countries under the slogan “Innovating for Tomorrow” last Sunday.
According to the Authority’s statement, Al-Mishaan was briefed on the latest global technologies available at the center, including the ‘Heavy Traffic Load Simulation Device’.
Moreover, this simulation device is used to evaluate the performance of paving layers that can withstand climatic conditions to which the road network is exposed. This also provides quality design and evaluation of paving materials and layers, while controlling maintenance costs and methods.
Al-Mishaan attentively heeded to an explanation of the center’s work, roles and tasks, and the work team’s efforts to achieve an integrated quality system. That is characterized by effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability, technical development, and at the same time ensuring the quality of roads that represent a tributary of economic development, with the aim of raising the level of services provided to the private sector in accordance with modern technology standards.
The Saudi Road Research Center approves road design materials and mixtures, controls the quality of the work carried out, and accelerates the pace of work in evaluating and controlling the quality of factories producing materials used in roads.
It also provides technical consultations and studies related to road materials to enhance the quality of life in cities by raising the level of road safety and contributing to the Kingdom’s progress in the road quality index.
Similarly, continuing with its global leadership in network connectivity, by enhancing performance and operation efficiency to ensure higher quality roads, leading to achieving the objectives of the road sector strategy.
