In a statement marking the World Day for Disaster Reduction, which is being observed this year under the slogan “The Role of Education in Protecting and Empowering Youth for a Disaster-Free Future,” Al-Khwari emphasized the importance of raising awareness among young people about identifying hazards and preventing them to safeguard lives and property.
He said, “As civil society institutions, it is our duty to contribute to raising young people’s awareness of the risks surrounding them, how to prevent them, and how to handle them safely, in cooperation with government bodies, institutions, the private sector, civil society organizations, and individuals.”

This initiative aims to establish an effective and sustainable partnership between the association, the Kuwait Fire Force, Civil Defense, and the Ministry of Health, to implement the community principles outlined in the international Sendai Framework. The implementation is overseen by Kuwait Fire Force, in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.
He added, “We look forward to the initiative receiving the sponsorship of the First Deputy to begin implementing its strategic provisions, programs, and plans aimed at building the capacities of various societal groups.”
He expressed his satisfaction with the Cabinet’s measures to enhance the preparedness of government agencies and to plan ahead for potential risks.
