Car sales in Kuwait go cashless as new rules affect vehicle sales, agents

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry bans cash transactions for vehicle sales, car brokerage, and scrap retail.

Khalifa Abdullah Al Ajeel had previously issued a decision prohibiting cash transactions for individual companies and institutions engaged in car sales of all kinds—whether wholesale, retail, or commission sales—effective October 1.

Khalifa Abdullah Al Ajeel, Minister of Commerce and Industry, has announced a new regulation prohibiting cash transactions for car sales, including both light and heavy vehicles sold through agents and on commission, effective October 14, according to Al Qabas newspaper.

The decision includes four additional activities: sale and purchase of motor vehicles, wholesale and retail trade for motor vehicles (new and used), car brokerage (forestry), and retail sale of car scrap.

Al Ajeel had previously issued a decision prohibiting cash transactions for individual companies and institutions engaged in car sales of all kinds—whether wholesale, retail, or commission sales—effective October 1.
