Doctor arrested in Mubarak Al-Kabeer drug trafficking sting

• Detectives surveilled the radiologist for days before raiding his Mubarak Al-Kabeer home, seizing 2,000 narcotic pills, other drugs, five firearms, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.

The Criminal Security Sector Investigations at the Ministry of Interior, led by the General Directorate of Drug Control, arrested a radiologist in his 60s for drug trafficking and abuse.

Acting on direct orders from Major General Hamid Al-Dawas, Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs, and Brigadier General Mohammed Qabazard, Director General of Anti-Narcotics, authorities also seized five firearms, narcotics, and drug paraphernalia, according to Al Jarida newspaper.

According to details provided by a security source to the newspaper, the field monitoring team in the Anti-Narcotics Department, through daily field follow-ups, noticed the spread of a new type of narcotic pills, based on the administration’s seizures and daily referrals to supporting security authorities.

The source added that detectives, through investigations of several defendants referred to the department, discovered a new drug distributor on the scene, previously unknown to them, who was using his home in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate as a storage facility for drugs.

The source also pointed out that detectives placed the suspect under surveillance for several days, during which they confirmed his involvement in drug trafficking. The suspect was further revealed as a doctor working at a major private hospital.

He stated that detectives obtained permission from the Public Prosecution to raid the accused’s house in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate. He noted that the prosecution granted special authorization, leading to the raid, during which 2,000 narcotic pills, various other narcotic substances, five firearms, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia were found. The accused was subsequently referred to the Drug Prosecution for further investigation.
