Primary care is health system’s first line of defense, says minister

Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare to drive greater achievements and positive results.

The Musaed Al-Saleh Health Center in Al-Shaab offers a range of clinics, including general medicine, diabetes, chronic diseases, asthma, osteoporosis, child health, as well as nutrition, geriatrics, dental care, and home visit services.

The facility, costing around three million dinars and covering 6,600 square meters, was completed in 2019 but delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health,emphasized that primary healthcare is the first line of defense in the health system, noting the ministry’s strong focus on enhancing it to achieve greater accomplishments and positive outcomes, Al Jarida newspaper reported.

Minister Al-Awadhi confirmed in a statement to reporters after the opening of the Musaed Al-Saleh Health Center in Al-Shaab on Wednesday that the ministry is continuing to expand primary healthcare services, with several centers having opened in the northern and southern regions.

He explained that this facility includes various clinics, such as six general medicine clinics and specialized ones for diabetes, chronic diseases, asthma, osteoporosis, and child health. It also offers nutrition, health education, geriatrics, and dental health services, along with home visit services.

He added that this center is a valuable addition to the healthcare system, offering integrated support services in pharmacy and laboratories, staffed by a specialized team to provide primary healthcare and support public hospitals. He extended his thanks to the donor’s family for their contribution.

Representing the donor’s family, Najib Musaed Al-Salehnoted that the facility was completed in 2019 but its opening was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He highlighted that the center spans over 6,600 square meters, costing around three million dinars, and includes a range of medical specialties to serve the local community.

Al-Saleh emphasized the family’s commitment to social responsibility and the public interest of Kuwait.
