Transfer of project visas to be permitted in November
First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef issued Ministerial Resolution No. (8/2024) amending some provisions of Resolution No. (842/2015) regarding the conditions for the transfer of workers from one employer to another, which allowed workers brought in with work permits under government contracts and projects sector to work outside this sector, according to specific conditions, starting from November 3.
The decision stipulated, in its second article, that the government contract or project should end, with the labour ministry being intimated with a letter issued by the government entity that owns the contract or project stating that the project in question has been completed, and that there is no further requirement for workers, in addition one year should have elapsed since the worker was brought in under the contract, the employer’s approval, and payment of a transfer fee of KD 350.
The decision also stipulated the cancellation of Clause No. (5) of Article Three of the Public Authority for Manpower’s decision regarding the transfer of overseas workers to the cooperative societies and unions sector.
