The Turkish Embassy in Kuwait and the UN-Habitat Kuwait (GCC) Office organized a special tour of the Golden Mosque on Monday, as part of a series of events celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Kuwait.

This beautiful mosque, completed in 2020, showcases a harmonious blend of Ottoman and Kuwaiti architecture. Designed by engineer Muhammad Amr and inspired by the renowned Ottoman architect Sinan Pasha, the mosque’s golden domes and intricate details reflect the rich heritage of both nations.

Spanning 1,600 square meters, the mosque features a grand prayer hall that accommodates 1,000 people, along with a women’s section for 400. The Badriya Nasser Al-Jeyan Mosque, also known as the Golden Mosque, was established in 2020 as a donation from Sheikh Miteb Al-Sabah and is named in honor of his mother.

The mosques construction utilized a variety of materials sourced from different regions of Türkiye. Notable elements include travertine stone from Afyon and Denizli, ceramics from Iznik and Konya, and stained glass from historic periods in Istanbul. The mosque also features wooden doors crafted in Edirne, chandeliers imported from Istanbul, carpets from Gaziantep, and a mihrab and minbar from Bursa.
