Kuwait Football Association officials jailed for 21 days over match incident

The Public Prosecution has decided to imprison Hayef Al Mutairi, President of the Kuwait Football Association, along with his deputy, Ahmed Aqla Al-Anzi, and Secretary-General Salah Al-Qanai, for 21 days. They have been referred to central prison due to incidents during the Kuwait-Iraq match that tarnished the country’s reputation, according to Al Jarida newspaper.
Al-Mutairi, Aqla, and Al-Qanai denied the accusations brought against them by the prosecution and contested the facts presented in the Ministry of Interior’s statement. They are expected to appear before the re-incarceration judge this week to determine whether they will be released or remain in detention until a hearing is scheduled in the criminal court.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Court of Appeal has ordered the suspension of the six-month prison sentence for former MP Abdullah Fahad Saleh Al Enezi, granting bail of one thousand dinars. The case will be revisited for sentencing next October. The prosecution charged Fahad with abusing the judiciary based on statements he made during one of the meetings.
