Kuwait introduces Gulf’s first Expatriate Workers Shelter Center

The center, the first of its kind in the region in terms of services and capacity, provides social protection, psychological services, decent accommodation, and legal protection for female workers.

The Public Authority for Manpower has confirmed that the Expatriate Workers Shelter Center, part of the authority, is the first of its kind in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Middle East, both in terms of services provided and capacity, according to Al Rai newspaper.

This was stated by Aseel Al-Mazid, Director of the Public Relations Department and official spokesperson for the authority, during the reception of a delegation from the Patients’ Aid Fund Association at the Expatriate Workers Shelter Center. The visit was part of the Permanent Coordination Committee’s work to link the authority with civil society institutions and public benefit associations.

Al-Mazid stated that the fund delegation, accompanied by members of the Coordination Committee, toured the center and inspected its facilities.

She explained that the visit aimed to understand the worker reception process, the roles of public benefit associations and government agencies at the center, and the services provided to female residents, including health, psychological, and legal support. The delegation’s questions were answered during the visit.

She added that the association’s delegation was briefed on the center’s procedures for the care and rehabilitation of female residents.

The delegation learned about the efforts to provide social protection, psychological services, decent accommodation, and legal protection for female workers.
