Kuwait prioritizes youth empowerment for leadership and creativity, says Al-Huwaila

The Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, said youth are the most important contributors to sustainable development, progress, and the advancement of nations.

Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila, the Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, emphasized that Kuwait places significant importance on its youth. The country is committed to supporting them by providing the necessary resources to foster leadership, creativity, and excellence. “Our youth have achieved this on multiple levels,” Al Rai newspaper reported.

Minister Al-Huwaila told the Kuwait News Agency, on the occasion of International Youth Day, which falls tomorrow, Monday, that the commitment to supporting youth is in line with the ongoing directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, with constant oversight by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister.

She explained that this is because youth are the most important contributors to sustainable development, progress, and the advancement of nations. She noted that the General Authority for Youth, which is tasked with supporting and developing young people in partnership with state institutions involved in youth work, strives to utilize all available resources to fulfill the aspirations and interests of youth, while the General Authority for Sports focuses on the sports sector.”

She added that the Youth Authority implements numerous programs, projects, and activities throughout the year to equip young people with essential skills and experiences that help them succeed in their professional lives and secure suitable job opportunities. Additionally, it organizes the Kuwait Award for Youth Excellence and Creativity annually under the patronage of His Highness the Amir, focusing on key areas for community development in the country.

Minister Al-Huwaila highlighted that the youth centers located across the country’s six governorates offer programs and projects that nurture young people’s talents and provide opportunities for creativity, innovation, and leadership in various fields such as science, technology, arts, media, volunteer work, and more. Additionally, these centers offer vocational courses, sports activities, and summer programs.

She stated that she has directed the authority’s officials to intensify modern scientific activities, such as those related to artificial intelligence, technical services, software, and advanced technology, to keep pace with the significant scientific advancements the world is currently experiencing. These topics are especially important, as they are key focuses of the United Nations’ International Youth Day celebrations this year.

She added that the Kuwait Technical Complex for Entrepreneurship, which is being established in partnership between the Public Authority for Youth and Boeing Aviation Company, aims to equip young people with technical and technological knowledge. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of enhancing the role of youth in the sustainable development of society.

She noted that these continuous efforts to enhance youth initiatives and highlight the role of youth in all aspects of life in the country have led to the remarkable success of Kuwaiti youth in many international forums related to youth. She expressed deep appreciation for the support and interest shown by the country’s political leadership in this regard.

Minister Al-Huwaila praised the significant role of Kuwaiti youth in the success of the authority’s programs and projects, both through their participation and organizational efforts, as well as their outstanding achievements in various fields at both local and international levels. She congratulated them on the occasion of this international day, which underscores the world’s recognition of the youth’s importance and their crucial role in the development and progress of their countries.
