Al-Otaibi champions workers’ rights with ideal workplaces

The Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower emphasized the authority’s crucial role in providing legal protection and ensuring a work environment that guarantees the rights of all workers, including those from Sierra Leone.

  • Marzouq Al-Otaibi, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower, and H.E. Haja Ishata Thomas, Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Kuwait, discussed ways to enhancing joint cooperation.

  • Al-Otaibi emphasized ongoing recruitment development to serve Kuwait’s economic interests and benefit both workers and their home countries.

  • Kuwait and Sierra Leone discussed mechanisms for recruiting and employing Sierra Leonean workers, as well as addressing urgent labor issues in cooperation with the relevant authorities.

Marzouq Al-Otaibi, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower, met with H.E. Haja Ishata Thomas, Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Kuwait, and her delegation to discuss enhancing joint cooperation, according to Al Jarida newspaper.

The authority stated that “Al-Otaibi praised the distinguished relations between Kuwait and Sierra Leone at various levels,” emphasizing the authority’s serious efforts to develop these good relations.

He highlighted that the labor market attracts workers with the specializations needed to serve it and its requirements, and that “continuous and persistent efforts are being made to develop the recruitment of skilled workers in a way that serves Kuwait’s developmental and economic interests, and benefits both workers and the countries that export them.”

The two sides also discussed mechanisms for recruiting and employing Sierra Leonean workers, as well as addressing urgent labor issues in cooperation with the relevant authorities.

Al-Otaibi emphasized the authority’s essential role in providing legal protection and ensuring an appropriate work environment that guarantees the rights of all workers, including Sierra Leonean workers in various sectors.

In turn, Ambassador Thomas expressed her gratitude to Kuwait and the Authority for their efforts regarding the issues of the Sierra Leonean community and her constant endeavor to develop relations between the two friendly countries in a way that serves all parties.
