New traffic law set to slash deaths, injuries in accidents

The source noted that discussions about a law with significant financial penalties matching the severity of violations led to immediate discipline improvement.

  • Instructions were issued to prioritize violations concerning children sitting in front seats, with penalties applied to vehicle owners to mitigate the potential danger to children.

A security source has confirmed that the upcoming new traffic law, set to be adopted by year’s end, is expected to significantly reduce traffic accidents, injuries, and daily violations compared to the current situation, the Al Anba newspaper reported.

The source added that as soon as discussions began about a law with substantial financial penalties commensurate with the severity of violations, there was noticeable improvement in discipline compared to before, and discipline is expected to increase further once the law is enacted.

Additionally, the source mentioned that instructions were issued by Major General Yousef Al-Khudah, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Operations Affairs, directing the Traffic and Rescue Operations Room and Traffic and Rescue Patrols to focus on violations related to children sitting in front seats. Violations will result in traffic penalties for the vehicle owner, due to the potential danger posed to children.
