Interior Minister orders detentions in Mangaf fire investigation

• Highlighting the Mangaf fire as a true disaster, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef stressed that it stemmed from the greed and ambition of company and building owners.

Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Minister of Defense, has instructed the detention of a citizen (the brother of the owner of the affected property and labor company) and an Egyptian resident. He emphasized that they should not be released from the criminal court without his approval.

Al-Yousef was present at the fire site and was surprised to learn that 196 people were living in the building, as per the building owner’s brother. Al-Yousef assured him that labor is on his conscience before God.

Describing the morning’s events in Mangaf as a true disaster, Al-Yousef emphasized that the incident resulted from the greed and ambition of company and building owners.

Al-Yousef stated that orders had been issued to relevant authorities to promptly address encroachments on residential buildings and other sites to prevent such accidents. He gave the owners of the violating properties until tomorrow morning to rectify the violations. Otherwise, the municipality and removal teams would take immediate action without prior notice.

He emphasized that any violation due to negligence on the part of property owners would be swiftly addressed from tomorrow morning, with violators referred to the prosecution.

Al-Yousef also announced that the Public Authority for Manpower would take action regarding labor accumulation. Regarding the fire incident, he mentioned that the property owner would be detained for investigation to ascertain any negligence.

In a related development, Al-Yousef visited Al-Adan Hospital to check on the injured, with three individuals transferred to Al-Jahra Hospital.
