The summer semester at Kuwait University for the academic year 2023-2024 begins today, Sunday, June 9, and will run until July 25th, according to Al-Qabas newspaper.

Early registration for summer courses had already started, but the Deanship of Admissions and Registration continues to add new sections to meet student demand.

The first three days of the semester will be dedicated to a course add/drop period, allowing students to finalize their schedules.
Students have expressed a strong desire for more course sections to be opened, especially in humanities where various sections are already closed due to high enrollment. This can lead to overcrowding and hinder the learning experience.

Informed sources at Al-Qabas newspaper show that the university administration is actively working with the academic departments to assess the possibility of opening more sections, particularly where student demand is highest.

However, there are established university regulations that govern the summer semester schedule and course assignments to professors. These regulations cannot be easily overridden.

Creating extra sections also necessitates allocating more budgetary resources for the summer semester.
