Ministry all set to appoint 550 new Kuwaiti, Gulf imams and muezzins

• Badr Al-Otaibi, the Assistant Undersecretary for the mosques sector at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, emphasized that preparations are complete for the blessed Eid Al-Adha, with the Eid prayer halls fully prepared.

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs operates on two parallel fronts concerning mosques. The first involves appointing imams and muezzins to meet the needs of the second front, which focuses on receiving new mosques, particularly in newly developed cities.

Badr Al-Otaibi, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Mosques Sector, stated that the ministry is in the process of receiving many mosques in various governorates. This includes approximately 200 mosques in the residential city of Al-Mutlaa alone, as well as other areas such as South Saad Al-Abdullah, South Abdullah Al-Mubarak, and West Abdullah Al-Mubarak. Consequently, the ministry is calling for the appointment of more imams and muezzins annually.

Al-Otaibi noted that the ministry has received thirteen mosques so far in the city of Al-Mutlaa and will receive twelve more mosques within days. This will bring the total number of mosques received to twenty five out of the approximately 200 mosques.

He announced that the ministry will open the door for testing Kuwaiti imams and muezzins, as well as those from Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in the next few months. This will occur immediately after the placement of all 550 successful candidates from the previous test is completed. He emphasized that preparations are complete for the blessed Eid Al-Adha, with the Eid prayer halls fully prepared.
