Public Authority vows no leniency in law enforcement for all

• Asmaa Murshid Al-Otaibi, the Director-General of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources and Acting Deputy Director-General for Livestock Affairs, said that legal measures would be taken against the owners of illegal livestock in the Kabd area, which were exploited for purposes other than their intended role in developing livestock in the country.

The Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources confirmed that “there will be no laxity in applying the law to everyone.” They stressed that necessary measures will be taken against violations involving livestock in the Kabd area used for live auctions, including the withdrawal of possessions and penalties for violations.

Asmaa Murshid Al-Otaibi, the Director-General of the Authority and Acting Deputy Director-General for Livestock Affairs, chaired an expanded meeting that included officials from the livestock sector and the authority’s inspectors, who are judicial officers specialized in inspecting livestock and livestock vouchers in the Kabd region.

Al-Otaibi assured Al-Rai newspaper that legal measures would be taken against the owners of illegal livestock in the Kabd area, which were exploited for purposes other than their intended role in developing livestock in the country.

Al-Otaibi pointed out that “the state distributed livestock with the intention of supporting halal breeders and developing the livestock sector to bolster food security. However, some individuals exploit them for other activities like factories, carpentry, restaurants, and auctions for various goods, or sublease them to others.”

She emphasized the need to “take deterrent measures by promptly withdrawing birds from those violating regulations, as proven by the authority’s judicial police inspectors. This action is aimed at completely eradicating repeated violations, given that standard procedures such as issuing warnings, cutting off electricity, and imposing fines have proven insufficient.”

The authority pointed out that the meeting, chaired by Al-Otaibi, concluded with a focus on “tightening oversight, conducting inspection tours, and monitoring auctions broadcasted through the websites of these livestock establishments violating regulations.” This is to control such violations, referring records proving the violations to competent investigation authorities, and proceeding with procedures to withdraw possessions and revoke licenses for violating livestock establishments.
