Kuwait to boost food security with seven new catering center sites
Kuwait Municipality’s sites across all governorates range from 500 to 1,000 square meters, with four storage locations from 10,000 to 100,000 square meters.

The Kuwait Municipality’s coordination committee approved the establishment of the Urban Observatory for the country, a specialized center for collecting and analyzing data and information in various areas of urban development.
Engineer Saud Al-Dabbous, the Director General of Kuwait Municipality, announced the preparation of seven sites for catering centers across all governorates to bolster food security in the country. These sites range in size from 500 to 1,000 square meters. Additionally, four storage locations have been prepared, with areas ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 square meters.
Al-Dabbous confirmed during the meeting of the municipality’s coordination committee that “providing these sites follows up on the mechanism for implementing the decisions of the Council of Ministers in this regard, and coordinates with the concerned authorities.”
The committee approved the establishment of the Urban Observatory for the State of Kuwait, a specialized center for collecting and analyzing data and information in various areas of urban development. It also works to transform information into a set of indicators that help decision-makers responsible for urban development to develop policies and draw plans that achieve the development goals of the country and its population.
In another context, Al-Dabbous issued an administrative circular specifying that the period for completing the building permit issuance transaction should not exceed one day for private residential properties, and three days for commercial, investment, and industrial properties. Additionally, shop licenses should be issued within two days in residential areas, three days in commercial areas, and five days for other uses.
The circular also stated that the period for issuing a description certificate should not exceed one day for vacant land, three days for private housing, and five days for other uses, with a commitment to issuing all types of building permits electronically.
