Drug network busted following armed resistance

Five suspects apprehended, including a customs inspector

In a significant operation, the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department of Narcotics Control and in cooperation with the General Administration of Customs, successfully dismantled a criminal network composed of five suspects involved in drug trafficking. The operation culminated in an exchange of gunfire with one of the suspects who resisted arrest.

Seized during the operation were 27 kilograms of hashish, marijuana, 200 capsules of psychoactive substances, 15 kilograms of suspected materials, 34 bottles of intoxicants, and unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The Ministry of Interior, through a press statement released by the security media today, Sunday, disclosed that the apprehended individuals included a Kuwaiti national working as a customs inspector, a Syrian and an Indian resident, and two individuals residing illegally. The suspects, along with the seized contraband, have been referred to the competent authorities for all necessary legal actions. The Ministry emphasized that “no one is above the law, regardless of their position.”
