Committee crafting tailored recruitment for key professions

The Public Authority for Manpower remains committed to overseeing the labor market and the procedures for hiring foreign workers by implementing a set of regulatory measures. This is facilitated by a dedicated civil government committee comprising various experts in the field.

Informed sources revealed to Al-Rai newspaper that the concerned committee includes representatives of the Public Authority for Manpower, the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Higher Education, Kuwait University, and specialized public benefit associations. They pointed to a meeting held during which a number of proposals for recruiting workers were discussed, especially related to some technical professions.

The sources said that “the committee reviewed the most prominent technical professions needed by the labor market with the aim of developing a special recruitment mechanism for each profession,” pointing out that “the implementation of the proposed recruitment process will take place in stages, the first stage of which targets some medical, educational, engineering, legal, and financial professions.”

Sources indicated that “work will be done to determine the needs of the labor market through the committee, which will include all nationalities allowed to be brought into the country.” This indicates that “among the proposals is not to issue any new work permits without prior approval of academic certificates, ratification, and equivalency from official authorities and Kuwaiti embassies.”

Sources indicated that there is a “proposal under consideration to include an accredited professional experience certificate for each profession, with a minimum requirement of three years for some professions and up to five years for others.
