Kuwait’s mosques witness Laylat al-Qadr prayers in the last 10 days of Ramadan

Thousands of worshippers gathered in mosques and Ramadan centers across Kuwait on the 23rd night of Ramadan, seeking the blessings of Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Destiny.

Mosque of the State

Over 10,800 worshippers filled the Grand Mosque for the special night prayers. The Ministry of Interior, Health, Medical Emergencies, Red Crescent, Firefighting, and volunteers ensured a smooth flow of entry and exit.

Large tents were set up around the mosque to provide shelter from sandstorms or rain. Sheikh Fawaz Al-Mutairi and Sheikh Badr Al-Ali led the Taraweeh prayers, while Dr. Bader Al-Hajri delivered a sermon on fearing God and remembering His blessings.

Kuwait’s ambassador to Turkey, Tuba Sonmez, also joined the prayers in the women’s prayer hall.

Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque

Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque was another popular destination, known for its spacious prayer hall and variety of services. Sheikh Mubarak Al-Faisal ensured all arrangements were in place to accommodate the large crowds.

Capital centers

Thousands of worshippers also attended prayers in mosques and centers across the capital. The General Supervisor of Ramadan centers, Abdulhamid Al-Mutairi, said they strive to provide leadership and care for all worshippers.

Abdul Latif Al-Matrouk led the worshippers in prayer at the Rashed Ramadan Center during the first four rak’ahs, while Sultan Al-Saram recited the Quran in the last four rak’ahs and the witr. The faith lecture entitled “The Answered Prayer” was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Al-Otaibi.

As for the Qura’at Al-Bahr Center in Al-Mubarakiya, the reciter Musaid Awwis recited the Quran with the narration of Al-Dori from Abu Amr. In the Al-Ghamlas Center in the Qadisiya region, the reciter Nawaf Al-Noms recited the Quran.

In Saad Bin Abi Waqqas Mosque in Kaifan area, Muhammad Al-Hindi recited the Quran in the first four rak’ahs, and Abdul Mohsen Al-Tabtabai recited in the last four rak’ahs.

Comprehensive services and holistic care for worshippers during Ramadan

Thamer Al Sallalan, Director of the Mosques Department in Ahmadi Governorate and General Supervisor of Ramadan Centers, affirmed that the department has been keen on providing comprehensive services and holistic care to enable worshippers to perform their prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.

Four mosques in different areas have been selected to be prepared and equipped as Ramadan centers. These mosques are: Sheikh Duaij Al Salman Mosque in Al Sabah Al Naser area, Saud Al Jalal Mosque in Al Aqilah area, Ali Israheed Al Jabry Mosque in Al Manqaf, and Sheikh Al Islam Ibn Taymiyyah Mosque in Sabah Al Ahmad residential area.

Al Sallalan stated that the department has formed teams for administrative and cultural supervision and maintenance work to be present permanently during Tarawih prayers and events at the Ramadan centers, in addition to work teams from other government agencies.

He added, “We were also honored at the Ramadan Center in Sheikh Duaij Al Salman Al Sabah Mosque in Al Sabah Al Naser area with a visit from the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Bader Al Mutairi, accompanied by the Assistant Undersecretary for Mosques Affairs, Eng. Bader Al Atibi. They praised the efforts made by the work teams and their good management of the center, as well as the organization of cultural and religious events and activities.”

Guests from abroad

The Ramadan Center at Ali Israheed Al Jabry Mosque in Al Manqaf area hosted Sheikh Anas Al Jahani from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who led the worshippers in Isha and Tarawih prayers and delivered a lecture entitled “Ramadan: The Month of Goodness and Blessings.” The department also hosted Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Hassan from the Arab Republic of Egypt, who delivered a lecture entitled “The Virtue of Fasting and Its Importance for Muslims” at Ibrahim Al Hebdan Mosque in Al Manqaf area, in addition to answering many questions and inquiries from the worshippers.
