Education minister greenlights 19 projects in government work program

The breakdown included 12 projects within the educational system reform program and six projects within the program focused on fostering innovation, scientific research, and development

The Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Adel Al-Adwani, has approved the 19 projects included in the government work program for both ministries after coordinating and following up with all relevant parties. He urged them to oversee the projects according to the systems prepared by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and to implement them on schedule.

Minister Al-Adwani elaborated in a press statement that prioritizing the development of human capital, educational system reform, and financial sustainability were key focuses in the work program of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and affiliated authorities.

He emphasized his strong determination to realize His Highness the Amir’s vision for advancing education and investing in the nation’s people, with support and guidance from His Highness the Prime Minister, aiming to nurture a capable generation contributing to the country’s development.

Al-Adwani highlighted that the projects encompassed in the government’s work program for the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research comprised 18 projects, divided into two primary programs within the human capital domain.

This breakdown included 12 projects within the educational system reform program and six projects within the program focused on fostering innovation, scientific research, and development. Additionally, there was a project included under the economic and financial axis of the financial sustainability.

Al-Adwani noted that the projects are focused on eight entities, divided into four projects for the Ministry of Education. These include the governance project for the administrative apparatus in the educational system, the launch of an e-learning platform for all basic educational levels to diversify self-education sources, implementation of the professional life paths program in secondary education to ensure diverse outcomes in educational services that meet labor market needs, and adoption of a general curriculum framework across education stages to elevate educational curricula and ensure their consistency.

Additionally, there’s the Central Admissions Portal Project for the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Unified National Tests Package Project for University Admission by the National Center for Educational Development.

Regarding the projects related to the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, Al-Adwani stated that they are summarized in two projects: a project for branches and colleges of the Public Authority in the Sabah Al-Ahmad region, and a project to expand the Chemical Engineering Department at the College of Technological Studies.

Regarding the projects of the National Agency for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance, the Minister explained that there are three projects for the agency: the National General Framework Project for Academic Qualifications, the project to launch a general classification list for academic institutions and local higher education institutions and their various programs, and the Institutional Accreditation Project for higher education institutions.

He noted that there are two projects for the University of Kuwait and Abdullah Al-Salem University. The first project aims to implement the academic accreditation system for all programs at the University of Kuwait, while the second project is the Research Oasis Project for the University of Kuwait.

Additionally, there are plans to launch three research centers for Abdullah Al-Salem University and to introduce postgraduate study programs in several specializations.

Regarding the Scientific Research Institute, the Minister confirmed that three projects have been introduced: a project to establish a sustainable economic farm using modern technologies, the development of a model for the economic production of multiple marine fish species, and the development of a network of national laboratories.

Al-Adwani added that the project to enhance investments and revenues in the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training has been approved under the economic and financial axis within the public finance sustainability program. This effort by the ministry aims to achieve financial sustainability by creating investment opportunities, whether in the short or long term.
