Ministry of Education reveals academic calendar for 2024-2025

• The workday for all technical mentors in various academic fields and school workers, including teachers and administrators, will commence on September 8th

• First-grade starts on September 16th, while students in elementary, middle, and high school grades will begin on September 17th. Kindergarten will start on September 18th.

• The mid-term vacation for the 2024-2025 academic year across all educational levels will take place from January 19 to January 30, 2025.

The Ministry of Education has developed a proposal for the academic calendar for the next academic year 2024-2025, covering test dates, vacations, and the start of registration in general education schools.

Hessa Al-Mutawa, the acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education, has requested the directors of educational districts, instructors of basic academic subjects, the Teachers Association, and several specialists in the educational field to review the proposal. They are asked to submit their proposals to the General Examinations and Student Affairs Supervision Department within two weeks at most to prepare for the final decision.

According to the calendar proposal for the next academic year reviewed by Al-Rai newspaper, the workday for all technical mentors in various academic fields and school workers, including teachers and administrators, will commence on September 8th. Only first-grade primary school students will start on September 16th, while students in elementary, middle, and high school grades will begin on September 17th. Kindergarten children will start school on September 18th.

The proposal specifies that the first semester for learners in kindergartens and primary schools will end on January 13, 2025, with children’s records being transferred to primary schools on April 24, 2025.

The proposal outlined that exams for the first academic period for middle school grades, as well as the tenth and eleventh grades of secondary school, will begin on December 15, 2024. Meanwhile, exams for twelfth graders for the same period are scheduled to start on January 5, 2025. Additionally, it indicated that the mid-term vacation for the 2024-2025 academic year across all educational levels will take place from January 19 to January 30, 2025, with the second semester commencing on February 2, 2025.

The final exams for middle school grades, along with the tenth and eleventh grades of secondary school, are set to begin on May 21, 2025. Schools are scheduled to upload the average results to the education website starting from June 2, while the results for the tenth and eleventh grades will be officially announced on June 4, 2025.

The final exams for twelfth-grade secondary school students will be held from June 11 to 23. The final results for general secondary school will be announced on June 25, 2025. Approximately two weeks later, the second round of exams for tenth, eleventh, and twelfth-grade secondary students will commence, specifically on July 7, 2025.

The decision regarding the 2025-2026 academic year specifies that it will commence on Sunday, September 7, 2025, for all workers in kindergarten, primary, middle, and secondary levels. However, the work hours for first-grade learners will start on September 15, with the rest of the learners in all grades beginning the following day, September 16. Kindergarten classes are scheduled to start on September 17, 2025.
