SCCC reviews Kuwait’s negotiating position ahead of COP31

Minister of State for Development & Sustainability Affairs Dr. Reem Al-Fulaij chaired the third meeting of the Supreme Committee for Climate Change (SCCC) for 2026 on Wednesday.
The meeting is part of national preparations for Kuwait’s participation in the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) due in Antalya, Turkiye, from November 9 to 20.
During the meeting, the supreme committee looked into an overture regarding Kuwait’s negotiating position on major issues, including those related to the UNFCCC, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement. This proposal aims to reflect national priorities and interests, while strengthening Kuwait’s presence and active engagement in international climate negotiations.
