CSC sets Oct 20 deadline for govt employees to update academic qualifications
The government has issued a final notice to government agencies to complete the verification and updating of employees’ academic qualification records by October 20, warning that failure to comply could lead to investigations and the suspension of financial and administrative benefits linked to the qualifications concerned.

The Civil Service Commission has set October 20 as the final deadline for government agencies to complete the updating of their employees’ academic qualification records, warning that access to the updating system will be withdrawn after the deadline and that non-compliant employees could face legal and administrative measures, including investigations and the suspension of benefits linked to their qualifications.
The commission, through its Committee for Examining Academic Certificates of Employees in Government Entities and the Private Sector, has instructed government agencies to submit their final, approved lists to facilitate the completion of employee data verification and updates in the commission’s integrated systems. In a formal letter to government entities, the committee said designated liaison officers had already been informed of the required procedures, documentation and deadlines for completing the process.
The committee warned that all updating permissions granted to government agencies by the Civil Service Commission would be suspended once the deadline expires. This would allow the committee to compile its final statistical report, with no further updates accepted for inclusion in the approved data after the cut-off date, including those covered by previous extensions.
The final report will include the results achieved by each government entity and will be submitted to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sherida Al-Maousherji.
According to the committee, the report will detail the total number of employees covered by the review, the percentage of completion in verifying and updating their records, and each entity’s level of compliance with the requirements within the prescribed time-frame. The committee has also addressed cases involving employees who have yet to update their academic qualification details despite receiving notifications through the government’s Sahel application.
Government agencies have been asked to remind these employees to complete the process and take the necessary legal action against those who fail to comply. The measures could include referral for investigation and suspension of financial and administrative benefits associated with the academic qualification in question.
The committee stressed that its latest communication constitutes a final notice to government agencies to complete the required updates and submit their final statistics ahead of the preparation of individual reports for the relevant authorities. It also instructed agencies to submit their responses and supporting documents in sealed, confidential envelopes, to be delivered by hand to the Civil Service Commission’s headquarters.
