The Executive Committee of the Gulf Football Federation approved Monday Iraq’s hosting of the 28th Arabian Gulf Cup (Gulf 28), in accordance with the federation’s regulations and approved standards.
The decision was made during the committee’s meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, held on the sidelines of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, chaired by Federation President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The federation said in a statement that the meeting reviewed the Iraqi Football Federation’s request to host Gulf 28, noting it was the only bid submitted by a member association.
The Iraqi Football Federation must notify the Federation of the host city within the specified period and complete all relevant organizational requirements under the Federation’s regulations.
The Federation said the decision reflects its commitment to strengthening cooperation and coordination with member associations, developing Gulf competitions and supporting their hosting and organization.
At the meeting’s conclusion, Sheikh Hamad affirmed his continued support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and his intention to maintain that support in the coming period. – KUNA
