The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has uncovered a number of health violations during a recent inspection of Mubarakiya market.

In a shocking discovery, inspectors seized and destroyed a staggering 90 kilograms of spoiled fish, reports Al-Qabas newspaper.

The inspection also resulted in the issuance of 31 citations to various food establishments for a range of food safety offenses.

According to a statement released on the authority’s X account, the violations were severe. These included the sale of food products that had clearly deteriorated, exhibiting changes in color, shape, or odor, rendering them unfit for human consumption.

Inspectors also uncovered instances of food adulteration, a serious health risk. Additionally, the lack of basic hygiene among food handlers was evident, with many workers found to be without valid health certificates.

To make matters worse, several establishments were operating without the required health licenses.

The authority emphasized the critical importance of adhering to stringent hygiene standards throughout food preparation and handling processes.

They also stressed the absolute necessity for all food establishments to obtain the appropriate health permits to operate legally and safely.
